Trewan Hall

Window of the old mansion The Trewan Hall Camping Site comprises 36 acres of woods and grounds surrounding the old stone mansion of Trewan Hall. Situated in the English county of Cornwall, Trewan is 6 miles East of Newquay and a short walk from the Cornish town of St. Columb Major. Trewan is the closest Camping and Caravanning Club site to the Eden Project.

Trewan Hall Grounds

The camping grounds and amenities are perfectly integrated into the estate and are designed to blend into their surroundings rather then detract from them. There is a choice of two fields each with a unique ‘feel’. One smaller family orientated field close to the shop, barns and play park plus a larger field with plenty of space with an ‘away from it all’ atmosphere.

Pitches are not allocated, giving you, the guest, the choice you wish. We are in an advantageous position in that we have far more space then available pitches. This means more room, more choice and the view or convenience you want. We also control the maximum numbers of campers carefully so as not to over-stretch facilities.

Swimming Pool

A fine large 25-metre swimming pool, adjacent to the camping area is open during the high season, and sometimes longer. The pool, built to high standards, is heated and kept in sparkling condition by modern filter plant. Qualified supervisors are always in attendance. Campers have almost exclusive use of this pool and an 'air dome' is erected over the pool should the weather be inclement. A small charge is made for its use.

Children have swings, climbing frame, sandpit and other attractions. Several old barns are restored and adapted for table tennis, pool table and table football, or just a congenial meeting place for the young people to chat and play music. A library and writing room in the old Hall is put aside for the use of campers. An extra for the proficient is a full-sized billiard table, also in the Hall.

Entertainment

Most evenings during the holiday peak period there is entertainment at no extra charge in the Long Barn - a building we have converted into an auditorium to accommodate several different types of performance. The entertainment varies considerably and can include folk and rock music, brass bands, magician and even local theatre. You will be surprised and delighted at the quality of the local talent, which we take great care in selecting to provide evening sessions of all types. This standard and variation of performance is rare on holiday sites.

The staff is always on duty if needed, to help make your stay as enjoyable as possible and many campers have found the site an unusual and rewarding choice for a holiday. Improvements are continually being made and arrangements are planned more particularly with the tented camper in mind. Dogs are permitted provided rules about the use of leads are strictly observed. Several acres of woodland adjacent to the site are available for walking your dog.

Camp Shop

A shop is open over 13 hours a day during the high season, shorter hours morning and evening in the mid season. It is comprehensively stocked from fresh bread to candles for birthday cakes for the camper who might forget that essential item. It includes a wide range of camping and caravanning accessories.

The trewan Hall shop front If the thought of ‘Entertainment’, swimming pools and children’s play parks fills you with dread then bear in mind that these aspects are only available in high season. The mid season will give you a very different holiday, as the estate in May and June is peaceful with flowers and shrubs in bloom, a typical Cornish garden in springtime.

We have a general policy of minimal signage so as not to clutter up the estate. We will not compromise the rural feel of the estate. The staff are local, carefully chosen to be inherently natural and friendly. The polices on Ecology are encompassed by our Gold ‘David Bellamy Conservation Award’ - see Campsite Awards for Trewan Hall.
